Piedmont Players Theatre (PPT) has been a Salisbury Institution for more than 50 years, drawing audiences, volunteers and performers from all over the state to be part of theater here in Salisbury. Recognized by the NC Theatre Conference as The Outstanding Community Theatre in North Carolina as well as being named Rowan County’s Best Theater by the Salisbury Post’s Readers Choice Awards, PPT operates 2 theatrical spaces; the historic Meroney Theater and the Norvell Theater, one of the only exclusively youth theaters in the state.

The Meroney Theater has a special place in the hearts and history of Rowan County and its residents. The name Meroney has long been associated with entertainment in Salisbury. On November 20, 2005, the building built by Dr. Leroy Meroney and his sister Miss Lena Meroney turned 100 years old. The Meroney Theater features all-age community theatre comprising of shows of all types—including incredible musicals every season.
